Staff Spotlight: Deborah Meshel

Meet Deborah! Deborah has been a school nurse for over 18 years and will be joining us as our camp nurse this summer. She has her BSN and has recently received her Masters Degree in nursing.  Currently Deborah is a clinical nurse instructor at Dominican University and specializes in community health nursing.

Deborah has grown up attending Jewish summer camps and is a product of the camp experience. She has been a camp nurse at several Jewish summer camps across the state of California and is excited to join us at JCC Maccabi Sports Camp this summer. She currently lives in Marin, with her husband and two children Jacob, 17 and Rebecca, 14 who will be also be joining us at camp this summer.


Staff Spotlight: Evan Schmidt

Meet Evan, our Camp Videographer! Evan is from Los Angeles, California but left the West Coast to attend Ohio University.

Although Evan’s main role at camp will involve holding a camera, he is no stranger to the spots world. While at university, Evan was a Prop on his school Rugby team. Plus, Evan has been playing both football and lacrosse since third grade.

He recently completed his B.S. in Integrated Media and has been working professionally as a videographer for five years. Through his videography career, Evan has traveled to 47 states and 8 different countries including: Israel, Colombia, and Ireland. He is beyond excited to be part of the camp community and looks forward to making creative videos with everyone.

Evan is a very enthusiastic person who loves sports. During his free time, Evan pursues his love for travel and adventure photography. He also enjoys surfing and anything that involves the beach or the outdoors.

Staff Spotlight: Ronnie Stokes Jr.

Joining us from Columbus, Ohio, meet our Assistant Basketball Coach Ronnie! A recent graduate from Walsh University, Ronnie is a Division II basketball player having pleased for all four years of college.

Ronnie has spent his last two summer’s working for Nike basketball camps across the Midwest and has gained a wealth of coaching experience. He grew up playing basketball and comes from a family of college athletes. College sports brings his family closer together and he loves the camaraderie.

This will be Ronnie’s first summer at camp and he is so excited to join us in beautiful Northern California!

Staff Spotlight: Dominic Mark

Coming to camp all the way from Northern England, Dominic will be joining our team this summer as an Assistant Basketball Coach and Camp Counselor.

Dominic is currently a finance major at Northumbria University and a passionate basketball player. Despite basketball’s lack of popularity, Dominic has played and coached for many club teams. Dominic has helped numerous players develop skills and a fundamental understanding of how to improve their game.

As a former sports camper himself, Dominic hopes to create the same valuable and satisfying experience for our campers here at JCC Maccabi Sports Camp.

Staff Spotlight: Ceckia “Kia” Pierce

Meet Kia! Joining us from Kansas, Kia will be coming to camp this summer to be our Athletic Trainer. Kia graduated from Southwest Baptist University where she ran track and field. She was a 6 time MIAA first team runner and a 5 time division 2 national qualifier.

Currently Kia is a graduate student at Fort Hays State University where she is an assistant coach for the track and field team. At FHSU, Kia is working towards a Masters Degree in Sports Administration.

A true sports enthusiast, Kia is looking forward to joining us at camp this summer and taking care of our athletes and staff.
