Meet Amanda Lale! Amanda will be our Head Counselor* this summer, working directly with our campers and counselors to make sure that everyone has a fun, safe, and awesome summer at camp.
Amanda has a deep background in education, sports, and working with children; she currently lives in Dallas, Texas where she teaches Special Education English and coaches softball and cross-country.
Knowing at a young age that she wanted to become a teacher, Amanda majored in Special Education and minored in English & Language Arts in college. She received her Bachelor of Science in Education from Eastern New Mexico University. Having coached softball before and during college, Amanda began her teaching career after college and received certification to teach Pre-K to grade 12.
In addition to teaching full-time and coaching two sports, Amanda is currently in grad school at Concordia University pursuing a degree in Sports Administration.
Amanda grew up playing sports and played competitive softball for 12 years, including 4 years at the collegiate level at Eastern New Mexico University.
Amanda has a love for summer camp and attended multiple sports and overnight camps growing up. She has worked at both overnight and day camps as a counselor and Head Counselor, and is thrilled to be joining our team this summer. She is specifically looking forward to getting to know our campers and helping them feel at home.
* The Head Counselor supports our counselors with all elements of camper care, making sure each child at camp feels comfortable, safe, and is having a positive experience. In addition to providing support to our counselors, the Head Counselor also works directly with individual campers. The Head Counselor is part of the Camper Care team which also includes the Director, Associate Director, and Medical Team (Nurses and Athletic Trainers).
