Staff Spotlight: Daniel Meier

Daniel Meier will be working as a Counselor-Coach this summer!

Daniel Meier will be a freshman at UCLA starting in the Fall of 2014.  He is a native of Redwood City, CA and goes to Peninsula Temple Sholom. He became a Bar Mitzvah in 2008 and was confirmed in 2011.  Daniel spent five summers at URJ Camp Newman in Santa Rosa, CA.

As a member of the Peninsula JCC Maccabi soccer team, he competed in the San Francisco, Memphis, Richmond, and Philadelphia JCC Maccabi Games. As a senior this year at Kehillah Jewish High School in Palo Alto, CA, his soccer team won the school’s first league championship, not just in soccer, but in any sport and he was voted First Team All-League Goalie. He loves playing sports. His favorites include soccer, baseball, basketball, golf, flag football, and Ultimate Frisbee. He also likes to ski and hike with his family and friends.

Daniel has been a member of the Boy Scouts of America for over seven years and has earned the rank of Eagle Scout. With the Boy Scouts he has learned canoeing and wilderness camping skills while also giving back to his community with numerous community service projects and organizations such as “Home and Hope”. He is an umpire for Little League, tests video games for VGmarket, participated in California Boys State, and is on the Teen Boards of Rebuilding Together Peninsula and Jewish Family and Children’s Services. He has worked as a counselor at the JCC, Bay Club, and Decathlon Sports Club.
