Grant Kahn will be a Counselor and an Assistant Coach in our Tennis program!
Grant Kahn is extremely excited to be a counselor and coach for the tennis program at JCC Maccabi Sports Camp. Grant was born and raised in Ashland, Oregon and will be attending the University of Oregon in the fall of 2014. Since an early age, he has competed in tennis, soccer, and basketball, but in more recent years has focused exclusively on tennis.
As a junior player, Grant reached as high as a #4 ranking in his USTA regional age group. He attended several tennis camp sessions including the NIKE tennis camp at Oregon State University and the Carmel Valley Tennis Camp where he was awarded “Best Sportsman.” Grant is the first high school player ever at Ashland High School to qualify for the State Championships three years in a row, reaching the semifinals and quarterfinals in both doubles and singles. He has been captain of the varsity team two years running and led his team to the District Championship last year. He expects to reach the singles State Championship Tournament this year as well.
More recently, Grant has been teaching children at the Ashland Tennis and Fitness Club, and focusing on off-court total body fitness and nutrition. His philosophy includes keeping sports fun, demonstrating good sportsmanship, maintaining excellent fitness, and teaching and learning smart match play and point construction.
Grant is affiliated with Temple Emek Shalom in Ashland, Oregon.
