Staff Spotlight: Kory

Kory will be a Counselor and Assistant Soccer Coach this summer!

Kory Silberg is a 23 year old Pittsburgh, PA native. He recently graduated from Denison University in Granville, OH where he majored in Environmental Studies and minored in Geo Science.

Kory - photoKory loves outdoor activities and sports and has coached and refereed many age groups.  He coached alongside MLS coaches as well as professional street soccer coaches from England, Ireland, and Belgium. His younger brother is on his way to stardom, playing for the Philadelphia Union MLS academy program. Kory loves to coach, teach, and help others learn and progress.

Beginning his soccer career at a young age, Kory played youth travel soccer and then joined his first academy/club team at the age of 12. Since then he has played for several different clubs in the Tri-State Area as well as for his High School team. Kory was eventually named captain during his senior year in High School, a season that ended with one loss overall — a loss in the playoffs, ending their dream season early. Kory then went on to play for Denison University’s Men’s Varsity soccer program.

As a child, Kory had the privilege to travel around the US and to many countries such Spain, the Netherlands, France, Germany, Italy, Israel, and Egypt. Kory originally had his Bar Mitzvah in Pittsburgh at his synagogue, later traveling to Israel with his family to become a Bar Mitzvah at the Western Wall in the Old City of Jerusalem. While in Israel, they visited cities like Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Bethlehem, Hebron, Ellat, Jericho, and Arad and also did an archaeological dig, parasailed, went SCUBA diving in Egypt and visited their uncle who owns an orchard near the border of Jordan.

In addition to soccer, Kory enjoys hiking, skiing, skateboarding, drawing, music, field sports, paintball, art, and agriculture. Kory is a certified SCUBA diver, a black belt in Taekwondo, and a certified U.S. soccer referee.
