Coach Rafael “Rafi” Nahom was born and raised Israel.  Soccer is his passion and he has been playing since the age of 5, in Israel and then in California after he moved to America with his family.  Coach Rafi played Varsity soccer at Fairfax High School in Los Angeles but then took a year break from competitive play when he began his studies at UCLA.  Realizing that he wanted to combine his passion for soccer and sports with his academic studies, he transferred to UCSB where he majored in Business Economics and obtained a minor in Sports Management.

While at UCSB Rafi began playing soccer again, joining the UCSB Club team; he also became more connected to the Jewish community on campus through his involvement with Hillel and the Alpha Epsilon Pi fraternity.

An injury to his knee forced him to stop playing but made him realize that he can continue his passion for soccer by coaching. Coach Rafi has coached competitive youth teams throughout the Los Angeles area, working with teams U6 to U14  since 2009 and has begun working his way up in the ranks of soccer coaches, currently holding a California State Soccer Association “D” Level Coaching License.  Coach Rafi is currently Head Coach for several club teams in the Beverly Hills Extra Program and also serves as Assistant Coach for a girls squad for the Santa Monica United.

One parent called Coach Rafi “a wonderfully talented and passionate coach who has transformed my son’s knowledge of the game in a very short time. His skills have advanced beyond what I could have imagined. Developing players of any age would be lucky to learn from Coach Rafi!”
