Introducing Coach Puchino

We’re so excited to welcome our newest Coach to the Maccabi Sports Camp Family, Katie Puchino!

Early Sport Life

Katie was born and raised in Centennial, Colorado, with her three sisters. She loved both competing against them and playing alongside them in all sports. Katie was a four-year letterwinner in soccer and basketball at Littleton High School. She also played soccer for Colorado United Soccer Club for 14 years, winning the Colorado State Cup in 2017. When she wasn’t playing organized sports, Katie enjoyed activities in the Colorado mountains with her family, including hiking and paddleboarding.

College Soccer Career

Katie attended University of Colorado Colorado Springs for her undergrad, earning her B.S. in Exercise Science. She was a member of the UCCS Women’s Soccer Team for four years. The team reached the NCAA Division II Tournament in 2018, 2019, and 2021, advancing to the Sweet Sixteen in 2021. The team was crowned regular season and conference tournament champions in 2021. That same year, Katie earned RMAC Defensive Player of the Week (2x), All-Conference Honorable Mention, and RMAC All-Tournament Team. Additionally, Katie was named to the RMAC Academic Honor Roll all four years. Katie went on to play a fifth year as a graduate student at Fort Hays State University. As a captain, Katie helped the team reach the NCAA Division II Tournament for the first time in six years and also earned All-Conference Third Team Selection.

Coaching Experience

Katie began her coaching career at age 14, coaching U4 and U5 soccer for Colorado United. Katie remained a staff coach for Colorado United for eight years. During this time, she coached a range of age groups, from U4 to U15, in camps and as a technical staff coach. Katie also volunteered with US Youth TOPSoccer from 2015 to 2022. She has now joined the collegiate coaching ranks as an assistant coach for the Women’s Soccer Team at Fort Hays State University, while pursuing a Master’s Degree in Health and Human Performance.

This Summer at JCC Maccabi Sports Camp
